Congratulations !!!!!

Congrats to all our members who competed at first federation tournament of 2012 on January 22nd at the Boys Club in Waterbury. USA MA members won at total of 53 trophies including 21 for 1st place – great job!!!! The results of all our federation competitions can be viewed at www.cheezictsd.com and go to “Media”.

USED EQUIPMENT SALE !!!!!!!!!!

A used sparring gear sale to benefit the Dr. Curtis E. Tate College Scholarship fund will be held on Saturday, February 25th at 10:00 AM (no early birds) at the Woodbury studio. All sales will be $5 and $10. We will take used equipment and weapons donations (no uniforms!!!) in Woodbury from February 20th to the 25th, in Naugatuck from February 18th to the 23rd and at all the Park & Rec. locations from February 20th to the 24th (please, no exceptions).


“BEST OF THE BEST AWARDS”

The 2011 “Best of the Best” Awards will be held at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington CT on Sunday, February 12th at 12:00 noon (I would suggest getting there early). Registrations are available on the federation web site @ www.cheezictsd.com and go to “news”. In addition to the awards for tournament competition, each location nominates one person from 3 categories: Little Ninjas/Kid Kicks (ages 4-6), Juniors (7-12) and Adults (ages 13 & up). The nominations from the USA Martial Arts locations are as follows:

THE DR. CURTIS E. TATE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Dr. Curtis E. Tate College Scholarship fund will begin taking applications for the 2012 annual $1,500.00 scholarship. The fund was incorporated in 1998 to memorialize the life of Dr. Curtiss E. Tate, one of the first students at USA Martial Arts. The DCETCEF is for members of USA Martial Arts in Woodbury & Naugatuck and the park & rec. programs in Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Beacon Falls, Cornwall, New Milford, Middlebury, Roxbury, Warren, Washington and UCONN. Please download the requirements and an application. The application deadline is April 7, 2012.  See more information at the bottom of this page.


STORM CLOSING POLICY

Winter storm closings will be announced late in the afternoon via an email for your respective dojang location. We do not follow public school closing policies in most towns. Feel free to call your instructor or Doug Wilke (203-558-4781) if you are unable to access a computer. We will also use the storm closing system on WTNH channel 8 and NBC channel 30 to make announcements for the Woodbury and Naugatuck studios.

Cheezic Tang Soo Do Annual Awards Banquet: Annual awards ceremony and dinner to recognize outstanding students from all Federation Branches.

Cheezic Tang Soo Do Annual Karate Kamp: : Annual camping weekend held in August for students, family and friends of Tang Soo Do. Includes food, games, competitions, demonstrations, seminars and activities.



SCHOLARSHIP:

Curtis E. Tate Scholarship

The Curtis E. Tate Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 to memorialize the life of Dr. Curtis E. Tate, a beloved local physician and a student of Tang Soo Do. USA Martial Arts is proud to be a sponsor for this scholarship. The $1500 scholarship is awarded once per year on the basis of achievement in relation to the student's goals, character as determined from responses on the application, written recommendations, and the ability to meet the scholarship requirements. Applications are available January 1st and are due back by early April (please see this year's application for exact due date), call Master Wilke at (203) 266-9172 if you are interested.

Eligibility - Each Applicant Shall:

* Be a currently enrolled and active karate student (or child of a student) in good membership standing, who has taken classes or been teaching for at least the past 2 consecutive years at USA Martial Arts in Woodbury; USA Martial Arts in Naugatuck; or at one of the following Park & Recreation Programs: Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Roxbury, Warren, Washington, New Milford, Middlebury, Cornwall or Naugatuck.

* Model the Tang Soo Do culture (commitment, loyalty, contribution to the art and to the community) and Seven Tenets of Tang Soo Do (Integrity, Concentration, Perseverance, Respect & Obedience, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit, Humility)

* Be an entering or current college student

* Have a completed application ARRIVE on or BEFORE the first Saturday in April at the following address:

* APPLICATION FORM: Completed legibly with full responses.
